What drug(s) may interact with Tizanidine?acetaminophen alcohol antihistamine medicines for colds, hay fever, or allergies baclofen benzodiazepine or sedative medicines for treating anxiety or to induce sleep barbiturate medicines for inducing sleep or treating seizures (convulsions) birth control pills medicines for high blood pressure medicines for mental depression or other mental disorders medicines for pain such codeine, morphine, hydrocodone and others phenytoin or fosphenytoin rofecoxib Tell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines, nutritional supplements, or herbal products. Also tell your prescriber or health care professional if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol, if you smoke, or if you use illegal drugs. These may affect the way your medicine works. Check with your health care professional before stopping or starting any of your medicines. Recommended dosageADULTS To minimize side effects, the doctor is likely to begin with a dosage of 4 milligrams, then increase the dose gradually. Doses of 8 milligrams provide relief for most people. No more than 3 doses should be taken each 24 hours. The maximum dose per day is 36 milligrams. What should I avoid while taking Tizanidine (Zanaflex)?Tizanidine (Sirdalud) can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert. Dizziness is most likely to occur when you rise from a sitting or lying position. Get up slowly to prevent dizziness and a possible fall. Do not use Tizanidine at a time when muscle tone is needed to assure safe balance and movement for certain activities. In some situations, it may endanger your physical safety to be in a state of reduced muscle tone. Cold or allergy medicine, other muscle relaxers, sleeping pills, narcotic pain medicine, and medicine for seizures, depression or anxiety can add to sleepiness caused by Tizanidine (Zanaflex). Tell your doctor if you need to use any of these other medicines together with Tizanidine (Sirdalud). Avoid drinking alcohol. It can increase some of the side effects of Tizanidine.What is it used for?
