How does it work?

Nabumetone belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

It works by blocking the production of a chemical (prostaglandin) which the body produces in response to injury or certain diseases. This prostaglandin would otherwise go on to cause swelling, pain and inflammation.

All the medicines in this group reduce inflammation caused by the body's own immune system and are effective pain killers.

Special information if you are pregnant or breastfeeding

The effects of Relafen during pregnancy have not been adequately studied. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. Relafen may appear in breast milk and could affect a nursing infant. If this medication is essential to your health, your doctor may advise you to discontinue breastfeeding until your treatment with Relafen is finished.

Nabumetone (Relafen®) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It helps relieve pain and inflammation associated with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Generic Nabumetone tablets are available.

• Peptic ulcers
  
  
• Allergy to aspirin or other medicines in this class (NSAIDs)
  
  

This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy.

If you feel you have experienced an allergic reaction, stop using this medicine and inform your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

How should you take Relafen?

Relafen can be taken with or without food. Take it exactly as prescribed.

Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and away from moist places and direct light. It can be stored at room temperature.

--If you miss a dose...

Take the forgotten dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular schedule. Never take a double dose.
