Why is Ultram prescribed?

Ultram is prescribed to relieve moderate to moderately severe pain.

Warning!

• Zydol SR tablets contain lactose and so may not be suitable for people with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption.
  
  
• This medicine is not recommended for people with severely decreased kidney function.
  
  
• This medicine is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
  
  
• Some people may rarely experience withdrawal symptoms when they stop taking this medicine. These may include feeling agitated, nervous or shaky, anxious, or having difficulty sleeping. Tell your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms after stopping this medicine. These effects usually disappear after a few days.
  
  
• This medicine may cause drowsiness. If affected do not drive or operate machinery. Alcohol should be avoided.
  
  
• Zydol SR tablets should be swallowed whole and not broken, crushed or chewed.
  
  

Possible side effects of Tramadol (Ultram) :

Constipation; loss of appetite; increased sweating; drowsiness; dizziness; diarrhea; nausea.

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; muscle stiffness or tremor; incoordination; fever; fainting; agitation; swelling of the mouth, lips, face, or tongue); tightness in the chest; difficulty breathing; itching; hives; seizures.

What are Tramadol (Ultram) tablets ?

Tramadol (Ultram®) is an analgesic that can relieve moderate to moderately severe pain following surgery such as hip replacement or other bone surgery, hysterectomy, cesarean section, and dental surgery. This drug also helps relieve chronic pain associated with cancer, nerve pain, or low-back pain. Generic Tramadol tablets are available.

Overdosage

An overdose of Ultram can be fatal. If you suspect an overdose, seek emergency medical treatment immediately.

• Symptoms of Ultram overdose include:
  Difficult or slowed breathing, seizures, coma, drowsiness, cardiac arrest

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Certain medicines should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, other medicines may be safely used in pregnancy or breastfeeding providing the benefits to the mother outweigh the risks to the unborn baby. Always inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, before using any medicine.

• This medicine passes into breast milk in small amounts. The manufacturer recommends that women who are breastfeeding should not use this medicine. Seek medical advice from your doctor.
  
  
• The safety of this medicine during pregnancy has not been established. It may be harmful to a developing baby and could cause withdrawal symptoms in a newborn baby if used during the third trimester. The manufacturer therefore states that this medicine should not be used during pregnancy. Seek medical advice from your doctor.
