In preparations for the skin, it is effective against ringworm, athlete's foot, and jock itch. In vaginal creams and tablets, it is used against vaginal yeast infections. In lozenge form, it is prescribed to treat oral yeast infections and to prevent them in people with weak immune systems. Special information if you are pregnant or breastfeedingThe use of clotrimazole during the first trimester of pregnancy has not been adequately studied. It should be used during the first trimester only if clearly needed. Do not use clotrimazole at any time during pregnancy without the advice and supervision of your doctor. It is not known whether clotrimazole appears in breast milk. Nursing mothers should use this medication cautiously and only when clearly needed. Recommended dosageLotrimin (Clotrimazole) Adults and Children Wash your hands before and after you use Lotrimin (Clotrimazole). Apply in the morning and evening. Use enough Lotrimin to massage into the affected area. Symptoms usually improve during the first week of treatment with Lotrimin (Clotrimazole). GYNE-Lotrimin (Clotrimazole) CREAM Adults Fill the applicator with the cream and insert 1 applicatorful into the vagina every day, preferably at bedtime. Repeat this procedure for 7 consecutive days. MYCELEX TROCHE Adults The recommended dosage is 1 troche slowly dissolved in the mouth 5 times daily for 14 consecutive days. For prevention, the recommended dose is 1 troche 3 times daily. What side effects may occur?Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue using this medication.
