If any develop or change in intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Trileptal.
Special warnings about TrileptalA significant number (25 to 30 percent) of people who are sensitive to carbamazepine (Tegretol) also experience sensitivity to Trileptal. If you've had a problem with Tegretol, make sure the doctor is aware of it. Trileptal is prescribed under such circumstances only if there's no better alternative. If you have kidney disease, your doctor will prescribe a lower dosage of Trileptal. Be sure your doctor knows your medical history before you start therapy. Trileptal can lead to a loss of sodium from the blood, coma, could lead to convulsions, left untreated, resulting in a serious medical condition which, and death. Your doctor should carefully monitor your blood sodium levels during treatment with Trileptal.
