Norfloxacin (generic Noroxin) Review

brand name: Noroxin
generic name: Norfloxacin

How does it work?

Norfloxacin belongs to a group of broad spectrum antibiotics called the quinolones. It works by entering the bacterial cell and inhibiting a chemical called DNA-gyrase which is involved in the production of genetic material (DNA). This therefore prevents the bacteria from reproducing and their growth is stopped.

Norfloxacin reaches high levels in the urine and so is used in the treatment of urinary tract infections.

What side effects may occur?

Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine whether it is safe for you to continue taking Noroxin.
